Week 4

6 June 2014

Had some new experience this week...Goemonburo (Japanese Cauldron Bath). It's very much like onsen but the cauldron is large enough for only one adult and to the first-timer, it seems as though you are cooking yourself. I sat on a wooden board in the cauldron so I will not be cooked. The view is not exceptionally stunning but its surrounding is tranquil. I soaked for about 10 min before calling it a day.

Otoosan and Okaasan working into the night. 3 huge tuna caught by their friend.

A totally separate entity: I'm glad I took this picture because the tulips wilted after a few days...

I seldom see flowers in Singapore except for few teeny weeny ones at the roadside or at wholesale nurseries. Not in Hokkaido during summer, tulips are the most common and they come in multiple colours. And of course there are other species which I can't name.

I have to thank Okaasan for bringing me to this garden during my day off. It's known as the Shibasakura

After looking at flowers day in and day out, I did a new experiment. To paint using flower pigment. Wild flowers are collected and then the flower petals are squashed with fingers on watercolour paper. I just hope they are not poisonous. Some colours change when the pigment is dried.
